Description

Tuscany has kept well hidden, certain jewels where memories and the imagination conjure images of the past which are intense and unforgettable. Il Mulino, which is an extremely well furnished dwelling, is the result of the conversion and restoration of an old water mill. Completely rebuilt in local stone in 1606 by the Arrighi family, the water mill has shared the same history and dates from the same period as the nearby Abbey of St. Antimo (12th Century). As a mill it functioned perfectly until about 60 years ago.

Independent residence (sleeps 8 ) with a large dining room and kitchen (with access to the garden), a pantry and a utility room with washing machine and dryer, a bathroom with shower, on the ground floor.
On the first floor there is a double bedroom with private bathroom and shower; a large lounge room with fireplace; a big bathroom with shower, a double bedroom. In the old tower there are two double bedrooms.

Amenities
Swimming pool (10x7m.), garden with furniture, satellite TV, free internet connection wi-fi inside and outside, air conditioning in the 3 bedrooms.
N.B. The Abbey of St. Antimo can be reached in five minutes on foot. There is also a medieval bridge with arches.

Brunello vines and wine
The preexisting territory is the cradle of the vines selected and then planted. The hands and heart of man are their true nutriment, and in the end make the final product outstanding.
We are aware of being emerged in the terroir of Montalcino. All efforts have been directed and aimed at the best Brunello possible for this generous land.

The 'Azienda Molino di Sant'Antimo' comprises about 40 hectares of land facing south to south west from about 200-250 metres above sea level down to the river Orcia. To one side Mount Amiata stands watch, when the 'maestrale' wind blows it brings the smell of the sea and the coast, to the other side the long ridge protects the land from the cold winds from the north and north east. The land is a mixture of clay, marl and crushed stone rich in minerals. The vineyards have been developed gradually.
The modern cellar is situated in the woods nearby, it covers about 800 square metres and so the wine is produced in the best possible conditions. Vinification takes place in modern steel barrels of 1000 Ql. The area reserved for the aging process houses large French oak barrels from Alliers and barriques of French and American oak. The labels in different colours all have the Paolus logo.
